Leeds United news: Finance Expert wowed by new £177m reveal at Elland Road

Dan Plumley has hailed Leeds United after the latest edition of the Deloitte Football Money League was published with the Whites above some European heavyweights.

Looking at the 2022/23 season, when Leeds were in the Premier League, they placed 27th in world football, bringing in a revenue of £177.6million.

The football finance expert admitted that with the 49ers Enterprises now also at the helm, the potential for growth is massive if Leeds get back into the Premier League quickly this season.

“It underlines those points,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“One is how far and away the Premier League is from the rest of Europe financially and you look at the clubs who are in the top 20 of that money league and the positions 21-30, and you can see where the financial power is.

We know that a lot of that is driven by Premier League broadcasting money, so you would expect Leeds United to drop out of that list in the next iteration because they’re in the Championship currently, but if you can return to the Premier League pretty quickly and then reignite that boost in revenue from the broadcasting side of things and factor in the wider potential of the club, tie in with the ownership and plans for growth, then you start to see the potential.

I think it’s unlikely we will see Leeds in the top 30 in the next edition, but if they get back into the Premier League pretty quickly, they will start to be in that mix again from a revenue point of view, and they are outperforming some pretty big hitters in the European football market.”

Leeds United back to the Premier League

The Whites smashed another EFL record on their way to another three points at Plymouth last time out, as they rose to second in the Championship again.

With a huge game against Leicester next up at Elland Road on Friday 23 February, the chance to go six points behind the leaders is tantalising.

Hopefully, promotion back to the Premier League can be secured before the nerves start to kick in.

In other Leeds United news, the club could blow their entire transfer budget on a move for Joe Rodon says one pundit.
