Leeds United may still press full legal proceedings against Everton – Finance Guru
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United.
Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United could still press ahead with full legal action against Everton if they feel as though they have a case to win.
It comes after the Daily Mail reported on 1 December that the Whites were set to withdraw plans to sue the Toffees after they were found guilty of breaching Premier League rules, in favour of direct negotiation.
The finance expert admitted that legal cases can be quite costly, and if they can agree on something it could be beneficial to Leeds, who may still press charges.

“There are pros and cons either way,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“It depends on which lens we’re viewing it, if we’re focusing on Leeds United and the potential for direct negotiation, if you can agree on something there, that may be more beneficial to that particular club.
“We know that full legal proceedings can be quite costly, they take a lot of resources, they’ve obviously got the Augustin case as well which we’ve discussed in the past, you can overstretch resource envelopes.

“There are lots of other things in the mix there, so for Leeds, pros and cons, the other side of the coin for Everton, it would be a huge boost for them if they’re not getting full legal action but you never know what direct negotiation means.
“It will be interesting to see how that develops in that context, so you can see the benefits for Leeds, but if you feel like you’ve got a case to go for then you may have to press full legal proceedings at some point.”
