Leeds United make contract small print ‘mistake’ as Jack Harrison set for Everton loan return

Dan Bardell believes Leeds United may have made a mistake in Jack Harrison’s contract as he looks set to return to Everton on loan.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday (21 June) that Leeds are now exchanging documents for Harrison to return to Goodsion Park on a fresh loan deal. Romano also added his trademark “here we go” catchphrase to show the move is almost complete.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the Whites have been forced into this deal after inserting this clause into his contract.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: “Unfortunately for Leeds, they’ve put the clause in his contract to let someone take him on loan if they pay his wages.

They’ve put themselves into this situation. We know that they might lose wide players this summer like Gnonto and Summerville and if they do having Harrison back would have been beneficial.

They’ll know why they out that in his contract but I do think it’s a mistake as it puts them in a difficult situation and makes them vulnerable if they lose another wide player.

It is what it is, Leeds did well without him last year despite not going up.

Leeds United set to lose Jack Harrison to Everton

Given that the Englishman has played Premier League football ever since Leeds were promoted, his desire to depart isn’t a surprise.

It is clear that Leeds and the player found an agreement that would allow him to depart Elland Road if they were in the Championship.

With that, Daniel Farke has no say on this deal and is forced to lose someone who would be one of his best players next season.

He has had his struggles with injuries so a permanent sale could have benefited the Whites in case his value decreases heavily over the coming year.

It doesn’t appear as if this is possible given his loan clause. With that Farke will be hoping that he can have a positive season with Everton.

If he does and Leeds manage to achieve promotion then he could prove to be a part of their squad in the Premier League in the future.

In other Leeds United news, David Norris believes that Daniel Farke could be sacked early next season.
