Leeds United-linked Karamoko Dembele hailed as ‘fantastic talent’, he’s similar to Wilfried Gnonto
Karamoko Dembele is a “fantastic talent” but Leeds United will only move for him if they are forced to sell players this summer, Paul Robinson has said.
Graeme Bailey reported for HITC (19 March) that Leeds are eyeing a move for the Brest forward after his impressive displays for Blackpool this season in League One.
Leicester City, Southampton, Everton and Nottingham Forest are also mentioned as potential suitors for the 21-year-old, who came onto the radar as a youngster at Celtic.
Former Leeds goalkeeper Robinson is a big fan of Dembele having seen him up close this season but thinks given he is similar to Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville that a deal might only happen if the club need to offload players.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I’ve seen Dembele play this year, I’ve seen him first hand I watched him play at Blackpool and he’s a fantastic talent.
“The two games I saw him play he was the best player on the pitch. He’s very, very similar to what Leeds have got in Summerville, in Gnonto, he’s that type of player, he’s skilful, he’s quick, he’s direct and I wouldn’t expect them to look to complete a deal for him unless they lost players in that area i.e. Gnonto or Summerville.
“They’ve got two players who are very similar and also you’ve got Jaidon Anthony in there as well, so it depends what happens with his future.
“I think a lot of Leeds’ incomings will be reliant or dependent on the squad they’ve got, whether they’re able to make loans into permanents, whether they’re able to keep players.
“But someone like Dembele if there was space in the squad and we didn’t have players like him already, he’d a great signing.
“As I say, I’ve watched him first hand he’s got a lot of experience for someone so young. You look at his pedigree from where he was at the academy he’s never really had an opportunity at the top level but from what I’ve seen of him he’s certainly good enough.”
Leeds United to make move for Karamoko Dembele?
Dembele has been a star turn for a Blackpool side that have flirted with the play-off spots pretty much all season in League One.
It looks as though his prodigious talent is finally blossoming and that at some point he will get a big move in England.

Whether that is with Leeds is open to debate, though. Anthony is unlikely to be here next season but Leeds are still bless with a lot of forward talent with the likes of Gnonto, Summerville and Dan James.
Ultimately, it will be down to Daniel Farke to decide whether he thinks he would be a good fit for the squad. The biggest hope is that he wouldn’t be a replacement for the likes of Summerville or Gnonto.
