Leeds United January transfer window no concern amid positive verdict for Daniel Farke at Elland Road – BBC Sport pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United …

Paul Robinson isn’t concerned by the lack of activity in the transfer window so far and actually sees it as a positive for Leeds United.

With close to three weeks of January already past without any new arrivals at Elland Road the situation currently sees Daniel Farke’s squad weaker thanks to the unplanned exits of Djed Spence back to Tottenham and Luke Ayling to Middlesbrough.

The Whites look to need help in defence at both full-back positions, but BBC Sport pundit Robinson feels that the paucity of deals this month is not a Leeds-specific problem.

And when the likes of Crysencio Summerville have been linked to big money moves to the Premier League during the winter window the former England keeper suggests it should help the club keep hold of their star players for the run in.

He exclusively told MOT Leeds News he wasn’t worried: “No, if you look at the window as a whole in general it’s a very, very quiet window. You look at the Premier League, there’s only been one signing so far, [Radu] Dragusin at Tottenham, where money’s actually exchanged hands.

“It’s been loans, it’s been swap deals, it’s been recalling players from loan. It’s a really quiet window in general and you find that through the Championship as well.

“I don’t have any worries personally from a Leeds point of view because I think it’s just a window-wide thing. Leeds are finding it as tough as anyone else to do business in the window.

“Which is good in a way, because you look at players like [Crysencio] Summerville who have been linked with moves elsewhere, with the window the way it is and Leeds struggling to do business like everyone else big deals are highly unlikely in January, which is a good thing for Leeds on the outgoing front”

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared an update on the logic at Elland Road behind the pursuit of an “absolutely terrific” signing this month.
