Leeds United: Calvin Ramsay, David Brooks not good enough for Daniel Farke XI amid Liverpool, Bournemouth news – Sky Sports pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United …
Paul Robinson has brushed off the fact that Leeds United have missed out on two January targets who have secured loan moves elsewhere.
The Daily Mail reported on 24 January that the Whites were leading the race to bring long-term target Calvin Ramsay to Elland Road from Liverpool as Daniel Farke looks to fill the gaps left by full-back departures this month, but the Scot saw a move to League One Bolton confirmed on 29 January instead instead.
Similarly, Bournemouth winger David Brooks has been in the club’s sights during the January transfer window only for promotion rivals Southampton to agree a deal for the Welshman the same day [Daily Echo, 29 January].
But ex-England goalkeeper Robinson says available game time would be the reason why Leeds United are losing out on midseason targets who are available to move, and is convinced neither would have walked straight into Farke’s first XI.
The Sky Sports pundit exclusively told MOT Leeds News: “I don’t suspect they were high up on the wanted list for the Leeds manager, who is going to have to make signings that are going to have an impact on his starting XI.
“I suspect game time was what’s important and the two players there you wouldn’t look at immediately coming into the Leeds starting XI to play.

“They’re allowed to go out on loan from their parent clubs because they’re not getting game time and you look at the Leeds starting XI, are they good enough to burst straight into that between now and the end of the season? The answer’s no.”
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has delivered a late-window state of play on the transfer front at Elland Road.
