Leeds United injury update emerges as Diogo Monteiro undergoes surgery

Leeds United sensation Diogo Monteiro could be ruled out for two months due to a shoulder injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the 19-year-old will currently be in the process of healing and downtime after undergoing an operation.

The young defender recently shared an image from his hospital bed and thanked the supporters for their support. [Instagram]

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Monteiro: “Quite difficult to say what the next steps of his rehab will be as there are no details provided other than the fact he’s undergone shoulder surgery and there is significant variance depending on those details.

“His rehab process will begin with some downtime to allow for post-surgical healing and then a progressive ramp up of mobility, strength and control that becomes more intense and more sport-specific.

He will be ruled out for the next month or two depending on his body responds to rehab.

Diogo Monteiro is yet to make his senior Leeds United debut

Monteiro certainly will be keen to make the step up and make the step up into the first team in the coming months.

Since his move to Elland Road from Servette in 2023, he has flirted with making it up to the senior level, but has never quite received the nod from his managers.

It remains to be seen if he comes closer to that goal this season, but the priority now would be to get back to full fitness.

In other Leeds United, an update has emerged on the club’s quest to finalise the Cheikhou Kouyate transfer.
