Leeds United injury news: Max Wober return update emerges

Leeds United defender Max Wober is not expected to be back to full fitness until mid April post his knee surgery, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert admits that there isn’t too much information about the specifics of the surgery, so it’s hard to gauge what the procedure would’ve been.

The Austria international has not featured for the Whites since 4 January, the 3-3 draw against Hull City.

Daniel Farke unlikely to have Max Wober available for the next few games

The Whites take on Portsmouth, Millwall and QPR before the international break and Daniel Farke is not expected to have the Austrian back for any of the games.

As he’s had surgery, his runway to a first-team return is undoubtedly longer and his lack of regular appearances all season mean the club will have to be more methodical with his rehab.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Wober: “He’s had knee surgery but there isn’t much more information out there.

It could be meniscus, it could be removing cartilage pieces.

It could be ligamentous – just to name a few options.

Surgery would look different depending on those specifics.

In terms of returning to 90 minutes, that will take a runway where he requires bounce minutes and consistent matches and he still seems a few more games away from making a first-team return.

I don’t see him returning back to full fitness until mid April.

Elland Road exit on the cards for Max Wober?

While his deal at Elland Road does not run out until the end of the 2027 campaign, Leeds may consider parting ways with him earlier.

They’re expected to secure promotion and have three centre-backs and one full-back ahead of him in the pecking order.

It would make sense to cash in on the Austrian and use the funds in a deal to strengthen other areas of the squad.
