Leeds United injury exclusive: Brand new Ethan Ampadu update emerges

Leeds United midfielder Ethan Ampadu recovered from his meniscus injury without needing surgery, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that had he undergone surgery, he would have been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Luton held the Whites to a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road.

Ampadu not expected to be at 100 per cent for the next two weeks

Even before the Luton clash, Ampadu played for the first team, the 2-2 draw against Swansea on 29 March.

That was his first game since mid-February, but he did not play the full 90 minutes in that one.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Ampadu: “He was out with meniscus damage and he recovered without the need for surgery.

Surgery surely would have ended his season, so this at least gives him a chance to contribute.

He has played two games and while he may not be at 100 per cent yet, he will get there in a couple of weeks if he plays regularly.

Leeds United need to balance the risk/reward with Ampadu

Ampadu’s return from a meniscus injury without surgery is a major boost for Leeds as they approach the season’s critical run-in and they eye promotion.

The 24-year-old’s presence brings stability and versatility to the squad which is undoubtedly key for a promotion push.

However, with Dr. Brar noting he’s not yet at 100% and needs two more weeks to peak, overexerting him risks re-injury, which could sideline him for far longer than his initial absence.

Leeds must balance this risk-reward equation carefully, using him strategically to maximize his impact while protecting his recovery, ensuring he’s fit for the decisive final games.
