Leeds United in line to pull off ‘perfect’ Aston Villa transfer

Leeds United would secure a “perfect” move if they were able to capture Emi Buendia from Aston Villa this month, according to Ian Darke.

The TV commentator has cited Buendia’s previous work with Daniel Farke at Norwich City as an ideal recipe for a new signing, despite the fact the German has played down Leeds’ transfer window activity.

Buendia has struggled for consistent game time at Unai Emery’s Villa since recovering from a serious knee injury.

“A loan to Leeds would be perfect for Buendia to get loads of minutes, presuming he would be brought in as a starter,” Darke exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“He can get his confidence back in an environment like that, and he played under Farke before.

“But you look at the Leeds squad and plenty have played in the Premier League, so January will be interesting for whether they do strengthen.”

Leeds United not expected to go mad in January

It is unlikely Leeds United will go on a huge rally in the January transfer window; despite their small squad, they still maintain quality in depth with players having recently returned to fitness.

Buendia may be looking for a Villa exit although the club may not be too eager to let him go, while still competing in the Champions League and FA Cup as well as their Premier League ambitions.

Leeds are yet to bring in any January arrivals, though Joe Gelhardt is soon set for the exit door as he undergoes a medical with Hull City ahead of a loan move.

In other Leeds news, Gelhardt’s imminent exit brings an update on a potential Bundesliga target who has been discussed.
