Leeds United in line to indirectly benefit after recent Red Bull announcement

Leeds United could indirectly benefit after Red Bull announced a new partnership with West Ham United, according to football finance expert Dan Plumely.

The Premier League club have agreed a multi-year partnership with the Leeds shareholders which will see Red Bull become the ‘Official Energy Drink Partner’ of both the Hammers men’s and women’s teams [West Ham, 19 September].

Red Bull have agreed similar deals with both Newcastle United and Everton and while none of the agreements will impact their stake at Elland Road, they could aid the Whites.

“It probably won’t have much of an impact in terms of the deal itself,” Plumley exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“This West Ham one is another official drinks partnership as per the arrangements with Newcastle United and West Ham United.

“It gives Red Bull prominent branding space in and around the stadium and they’ve also got the same with the women’s stadium as well, so it’s not going to impact Leeds too much in terms of that.

“From a wider publicity, PR and exposure kind of piece, there is probably some indirect benefit there to Leeds as well because that will bring the affiliation with Red Bull more into the English football industry than perhaps it has ever been before.

“There is probably some spinoff in a positive way from an exposure piece, but it won’t have any direct impact really in terms of the investment proposition for Red Bull at Leeds United.”

How much of Leeds United does Red Bull own at Elland Road?

Eyebrows were raised when Red Bull arrived at Elland Road this summer and that is unlikely to have changed now that they have agreed deals with several Premier League teams in the last few months.

However, the company’s involvement with Daniel Farke’s side is a completely different arrangement to their deals with the likes of West Ham, Everton and Newcastle so supporters don’t need to be concerned.

Hopefully, Farke’s Whites will see a bit of the increased revenue heading Red Bull’s way when the transfer window opens again in January.

Who knows, these new agreements could give Leeds a bit more money to spend.
