Leeds United hit by transfer beast after Max Aarons saga – Finance Guru
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United have been hit by the best of transfers after missing out on a move for Max Aarons, who has moved to Bournemouth instead.
The finance expert admitted that there will be wasted costs despite missing out, with hotel and travel costs also included before anything happened at Elland Road.
Plumley shared that these things happen everywhere though, with Chelsea and Liverpool being the best example in the Premier League throughout the summer.

“It’s minimal in the grand scheme of things, but it shows the risks of transfer,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“You have to stump up not just the fee and wages if that move comes off, but you’ve got the pre-costs as well.
“If you’re trying to do a deal, you’re paying for hotels and travel among other things, but I think it’s the nature of the best. We’ve seen it at the very top of the Premier League with the Liverpool and Chelsea sagas, so it’s not the fact it’s just happening to Leeds.
“It is a risk that all clubs run, and I think the end result is, unfortunately, a lot of that is judged by league standing.

“There is nothing Leeds can do about that, it is just the circumstances they are in, it’s minimal cost but the annoyance factor to stump out the cost and not get the player is the risk of the market.“
