Leeds United hit by new bill after recent developments – Exclusive

Leeds United have certainly celebrated their return to the Premier League in style.

As Sheffield United and Sunderland get ready for the second legs of their play-off semi-finals, the Whites and Burnley already know their status as Premier League clubs.

With the players currently in Las Vegas, an estimated 150,000 fans gathered in the city centre days before to celebrate with an open-top bus parade.

Despite the jubilant scenes, there were some negatives from the day.

Leeds United hit by new bill at Elland Road

With fans clambering to get the best views, damage was caused throughout the city centre, with bus stops shattering as one example.

Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds will likely have to foot that bill, given it was their celebration.

The football finance expert admits it is the collateral of doing events like these, with the inside information likely never coming to light around the payments.

“It’s always an interesting one, this,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“We’ve seen it come to the fore in more recent years with these big promotion parties and things like that.

We’ve never seen the official answer on it, but my gut feeling would be, the club is going to have to foot the bill, ultimately, if there is damage and things like that.

Someone has got to pay for that, and you would imagine that the club are going to get the bill with it being linked to the promotion parade.

It’s never something you’ll see the inside detail of, but it’s probably likely that you would have to clean up your mess and pay for a bit of damage, which is the collateral of doing these events.”

49ers and Marathe will not care

Of course, nobody created such damage on purpose, and it isn’t celebrated, but Paraag Marathe will be happy to cover the cost for what it means.

The American made no secret of the hard work to get to this stage while on one of the buses, so watching the fans gather in their thousands will have delighted him.

Hopefully, consistency can be hit in the Premier League, and the next parade can be for bigger silverware, although survival is the first goal.
