Leeds United have fresh argument against Premier League as financial news sends shockwaves
Leeds United would have an argument to make against the Premier League if they fail to go up this season following the financial news regarding Leicester City, Paul Robinson has said.
The Foxes were charged and referred to an independent commission over an alleged breach of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules for their past three seasons in the top flight.
However, if they are guilty any points deduction would come into effect next season if they manage to get promoted back to the Premier League, as explained by Kaveh Solhekol on Sky Sports News (21 March).
Former Leeds goalkeeper thinks that could be good news for the Whites if they also reach the top tier but says they will feel aggrieved if they do not manage to get back up and Leicester aren’t punished this term.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News, he said: “As far a points deduction goes, there’s two ways of looking at it from a Leeds point of view.
“If Leeds, as we hope, go up and Leicester start in the minuses that’s good for Leeds, whereas if for whatever reason Leeds didn’t go up this season and Leicester had the points taken off next season then there’s an argument why?
“And if the financial breaches have been found this season why haven’t they been punished in this season the same way Everton have been?”
Do Leeds United have an argument against the Premier League after Leicester City news?
The tricky thing is, Leicester are no longer a Premier League team (or at least at the moment they aren’t) and therefore any points deduction would have to wait.
Let’s say for argument’s sake Leeds and Leicester go up and the Foxes are docked points to begin next term that could actually be quite useful for the Whites next season.

But, if they don’t manage to get over the line, then there will definitely be some frustration among the Leeds hierarchy.
It’s all a bit of a mess and again takes away from what the talking points should be about, namely the actual football.
