Leeds United handed ‘huge blow’ as Dan James injury update emerges at Elland Road
Dan James’ hamstring injury will come as a “huge blow” as Leeds United attempt to climb the Championship table, Paul Robinson has said.
Daniel Farke confirmed the Welshman is set to be sidelined until after the October international break, having suffered a setback during his rehabilitation [Yorkshire Evening Post].
James has made three Championship starts so far this season, scoring in the 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday, but has not played a single minute since 23 August.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “No Daniel James is a huge blow. Having lost Summerville and Rutter, Manor Solomon coming has helped, but James has the ability to play anywhere across the front.
“His pace, the way he approaches the game, and his directness gives Leeds something else. He’s a key player, whether he starts or comes off the bench, and he’s always going to be part of the matchday squad. He’ll be a huge miss.”
Leeds United handed blow as Dan James suffers injury setback
James is just the kind of player Farke cannot afford to be without for a long period, especially with doubts forming over Solomon’s availability ahead of the Cardiff City clash [Adam Pope].
The 26-year-old winger experienced one of his best-ever seasons, not just in a Leeds shirt, but in his entire career after notching 13 goals and seven assists in the last Championship campaign.

He was unavailable for a large chunk towards the end of last season, though that was not much of an issue with Rutter, Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto all at the club.
Now, Farke will need to hope other players in the squad can step up and fill in for James while he attempts to recover from his injury setback.
