Leeds United handed good news as Wilfried Gnonto injury update emerges v Watford
Paul Robinson is relieved that Wilfried Gnonto is expected to be available for Leeds United to face Watford on Tuesday (22 October).
Daniel Farke confirmed that the 20-year-old winger only bruised his shoulder after a rough challenge against Sheffield United, avoiding a “serious injury” and is now set to face the Hornets at Elland Road.
Gnonto has started all 10 of the Whites’ Championship matches so far this season, notching two goals and four assists, suggesting an injury to him would have been a major blow for Farke.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “It’s a big relief because they’re missing two key midfielders already. I know he’s not in the same position but with Gnonto’s form this season, he’s been key to what Leeds have done so far.
“They do have strength and depth in that area, though. Gnonto’s an integral part of the starting XI and he’s a top player but when you look at the bench, with Dan James and [Manor] Solomon, there’s strength in depth.
“Gnonto would have been a big miss. It’s good news, obviously.”
Wilfried Gnonto continues to star for Leeds United
The Italian has become a key figure for Farke since Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter’s departures during the summer transfer market.

Leeds have already suffered two big injury blows in Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev, and fans were rather concerned to hear that Gnonto could have been unavailable for the Watford clash.
However, James and Solomon have both returned from their respective injuries, which alleviates some of the pressure on Farke to start Gnonto on Tuesday 22 October.
In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke must start an “outstanding” star, who has a 71% win rate v Watford.
