Leeds United given assurance amid £25m Troy Parrott pursuit

Leeds United have been linked with a move for former Tottenham striker and AZ Alkmaar regular Troy Parrott this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed his fitness record ahead of a potential transfer this summer.

The Republic of Ireland international saw his season come to an end prematurely due to injury.

Parrott’s recent injury unlikely to be a cause for concern

Leeds United will likely check on the 23-year-old’s rehab if they are to sign him this summer, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

He did not play the last six games due to an injury, but prior to that, he made 28 league appearances and bagged 14 goals.

This comes after De Telegraaf reported on 23 May that Leeds want to sign Parrott this summer.

They also claimed that any deal would cost the Elland Road outfit a fee in the region of £25million.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Parrott: “Leeds may take a closer look at his recent injury, but overall I wouldn’t expect musculoskeletal issues.

He did play regularly this season before an injury in the final few weeks.

The club may want to take a look at how rehab is ongoing, but I don’t see this as a red flag.

Leeds United should not pay £25million to sign Parrott

Parrott could be a decent signing due to his proven goal-scoring ability, netting 20 goals in 47 appearances for AZ Alkmaar in the 2024/25 season, showcasing his potential to bolster Leeds’ attack.

At 23, his youth and experience in the Eredivisie and Europa League suggest he could adapt to the Premier League, especially as a replacement for the departing Patrick Bamford.

However, AZ’s £25million asking price is inflated for a player with limited Premier League experience and inconsistent loan spells in England.

For that amount, Leeds could target proven top-flight strikers who offer experience and reliability, or invest in younger talents who have a higher ceiling.
