Leeds United generate big cash after official transfer announcements

Dan Plumley has insisted that Leeds United are generating big amounts of cash in the current transfer market through their player sales.

It comes after Glen Kamara was sold for £8.5million [Fabrizio Romano], following the big-money exit of Archie Gray and others such as Diego Llorente and Charlie Cresswell.

The football finance expert admitted that bigger sales figures can happen when teams coming down from the Premier League have good players to sell.

“I guess they are big numbers against the average of what you would expect in that league,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“That’s obviously due to the fact that we have an ex-Premier League club here and they are a big football club, so you do get this from time to time.

It’s symptomatic of Leeds not going up last season as this was likely to happen, not a fire sale of all players, but it was always going to play out this way to whether or not promotion meant keeping hold of some players or letting them go.

If you can let some of those players go in the Championship and they are good players, then you can command a higher fee.

It does happen from time to time with the bigger clubs who have good talent to sell.”
