Leeds United told to follow Leicester City example as Daniel Farke claim made
Don Goodman says the way Leicester City managed to grind out a victory against West Brom is the blueprint for Leeds United to follow.
Leicester put back-to-back defeats behind them on Saturday (20 April) with a somewhat fortunate 2-1 win at home to the Baggies.
Like their fellow automatic-promotion chasers, Leeds’ form has stuttered of late and three points are a must against Middlesbrough.
Speaking ahead of that game at the Riverside on Monday (22 April), Goodman told MOT Leeds News: “Just like Leicester found a way to beat West Brom without being the better team, Leeds also now need to find a way.
“The alarm bells have been ringing in terms of performance levels since the international break, particularly performances over the last two games at Elland Road.
“They had won nine in a row, then failed to break down an out-of-form – albeit resilient – Sunderland side at home, then failed to break down a Blackburn side that everyone else seems to score against. That’s a worry.
“Now they have two away games against Boro and QPR. Six weeks ago you’d really fancy Leeds against those sides, but they are now so much more difficult.
“Boro are on an unbeaten run and QPR have picked up massively, securing their survival just about. But Daniel Farke has been there, seen it and done it.
“He’s a really calm and composed character, which can only be a good thing in terms of keeping the players’ emotions in check.”
Leeds face tricky test away at Middlesbrough
Leeds simply cannot afford to drop more points at Middlesbrough if they are to finish above one of Leicester City or Ipswich Town.
The Foxes’ loss of form in recent months has been pretty incredible, yet they have done enough to climb back to the top of the pile.

Farke’s men now need to do likewise against a Boro side who are down in ninth and have next to no chance of reaching the play-offs.
Nobody said promotion would be easy, and so that is proving. At the turn of the year, almost all Leeds fans would have accepted this position.
As the cliche goes, it is a case of one game at a time at this stage and all focus now is on Middlesbrough. No matter how they do it, Leeds must come away with all three points.
In other Leeds United news, Goodman suggested it could be time for a youngster to be handed his full league debut against Boro.
