Leeds United fans would not accept Kerem Akturkoglu after transfer news – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson has insisted that there is “absolutely no chance” that Leeds United would do business with Galatasaray to sign Kerem Akturkoglu in January.

It comes after Aksam reported on 19 December that the Whites were ready to pay £12.9million to sign the winger next month and bring him to Elland Road.

Robinson admitted that Akturkoglu simply would not be accepted by the fans because of the history between the two clubs, stating it would be unfair to them and the player.

“I think there is absolutely no chance the two clubs would do business because I don’t think the player would be accepted,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“Because of the history between the clubs, Harry Kewell left Leeds and inadvertently between two clubs went to Galatasaray and Leeds fans made their feelings very clear about that.

I just don’t see how, it just wouldn’t be accepted by the fans and I don’t think you would do that to a player because it’s difficult enough to join a new club without the whole of the fan base being against you to start with.”

Daniel Farke has already admitted that he is definitely looking at a new left-back, with other options potentially on the table ahead of the window opening on Monday 1 January.

In other Leeds United news, Farke has axed one player from the squad altogether despite him being available.
