Leeds United: Doctor moots long-term injury consequences for Jamie Shackleton
Leeds United defender Jamie Shackleton faces potential long-term consequences, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the club will be handling his concussion very carefully as it can have symptoms that are felt in the future.
The 24-year-old has been missing in action for the past few weeks and the Whites are unlikely to rush him back.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Shackleton:
“He’s been in concussion protocols so I think Farke saying ‘like a concussion’ part was just semantics, it is a concussion.
“A small part of concussions do end up with long-term symptoms which is called a post-concussion syndrome.
“So it’s really important to treat this carefully and methodically on the front end.
“I would imagine that’s what Leeds will be doing and will not rush him back.“
Leeds United medics must take proper care of Shackleton
Shackleton last featured for the Whites in the 1-1 draw against Plymouth on 27 January.
Daniel Farke has handed the Englishman seven league starts this season – primarily deploying him as a right-back.

The 24-year-old has also played a few games at left-back when Junior Firpo was injured and before Sam Byram went on a run of consecutive matches in that role.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have already started scouting a defender who plans to return to England in the summer transfer window.
