Leeds United: Doctor issues Stuart Dallas insight post retirement
Stuart Dallas’ retirement, after nine years at Leeds United, was a decision made after he failed to handle the rigours of training, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that all the updates over his return from a broken femur were optimistic and unfortunately, his body failed to respond to return to a level needed for professional football.
The Northern Irishman finally made a final decision to call it a day from football on 10 April and issued a statement.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Dallas:
“The key factor that led him to retire sounds like his body just wasn’t able to handle the rigours of returning to a match.
“He was kept in individual and partial team training for an extended period of time but just couldn’t get over the hump – either his body did not respond as well as hoped or he couldn’t get the requisite fitness back.
“The optimism from him and the team over him returning may have just been more hope than anything concrete.
“You always hope that if you can pull back a little bit on training and then ramp back up, maybe this will be the time when it all clicks.
“Never happened so at some point, the reality is the reality.”

With 266 appearances and 28 goals for the club, Dallas’ versatility and skill were instrumental in Leeds’ success.
He was a regular starter under Marcelo Bielsa, showcasing his ability to adapt to different positions on the field.
