Leeds United: Daniel Farke may be headhunted after new contract update at Elland Road

Dan Plumley has insisted that Daniel Farke may be headhunted by other clubs after an update on his contract emerged at Leeds United.

After whispers of new contract talks already at Elland Road, the football finance expert admitted that it is not unusual with clubs now planning long-term.

The German currently has Leeds sitting third in the Championship, two points off the top two despite working with very limited resources for the first month of the season.

“It’s not unusual in this day and age to see conversations around manager contracts start earlier, especially because we know clubs are planning for the long term with managerial appointments,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“If you know there is a little bit of movement in the market and you know potentially that your manager is going to get headhunted, then that could be a reason to start a conversation early.

It obviously shows intent that things are moving in the direction that the club wants which is a positive when you see those rumours, but it could also be a little bit of media talk.

If they are on long-term deals, is there anything in these early talks? Perhaps not other than a bit of sounding out by both parties, but I think given the nature of managerial change, we are now seeing clubs looking to tie managers down when things are going well, whereas in the past, it has been quite reactive.”

Daniel Farke exit on cards at Elland Road?

There is no chance of this happening right now.

Leeds are in the thick of a promotion battle, with a specialist at the helm who refuses to panic after results such as the draw against Huddersfield, which still made it a stunning 28 points from the last 30 available.

The Whites are still among the favourites for promotion back to the Premier League, and anything could happen in these last 11 games.
