Leeds United could avoid Ryan Kent transfer as fitness concern raised

Leeds United should not use inconsistent results as a means to sign Ryan Kent as a free agent, according to Ian Darke.

Kent was recently linked with an out-of-window switch to Leeds after leaving Fenerbahce, with Daniel Farke already having brought Josuha Guilavogui to Elland Road from the free agent market.

TV commentator Darke, speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, admits the winger is a dangerous player but would need until the January transfer window opens to become match fit.

“They seem well stocked [in wide areas]. Ryan Kent has hardly played a game this season,” Darke said.

“He’d be available, but how long will it take to get him up to speed? I wouldn’t think that’s what Leeds need at the moment.

“Is he a good player who could make an impact? Conceivably, yes, but it’d probably take four or five weeks to get him anywhere near match sharpness.”

Leeds United expected to be busy in January

If Leeds were serious about a move for Kent, it is anticipated that it would have already been signed and sealed.

With one of the Championship’s smallest first-team squads, Farke’s side will likely be bolstered in January with the club’s PSR status reportedly now in a healthy position.

Farke will also be desperate not to lose anymore of the club’s big hitters to the Premier League, following the departures of Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray to the top flight over the summer.
