Leeds United ‘charge premium’ for season tickets after new developments

Leeds United created fiery debates among fans at Elland Road with the recent price increase for season ticket renewals.

At a time when automatic promotion looked heavily in doubt, the Whites confirmed a 14 per cent price increase for next season.

Luckily for Leeds and the 49ers Enterprises, they are now back in pole position to earn automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds United forced to charge new premium

Dan Plumley has insisted that clubs raising their ticket prices has become a trend, with a possible premium being applied for if and when Leeds are promoted.

The football finance expert admits that there is a reluctance to raise prices, but clubs are almost forced to do it to squeeze further revenue.

“We are seeing clubs raise them slightly,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“We know there has been a bit of a creep, and that is Leeds keeping up with the sector, then, because you feel as though you don’t need to necessarily, but if others do, you feel like you’re pressured into doing that to keep up the pace.

I also think with this particular rise and the steepness of the increase year-on-year, there is a little bit that suggests that could be for Premier League football next year, which is then being charged at a bit more of a premium.

There is a reluctance to raise them across the board but a feeling that you’ve almost got to do it and squeeze in that extra bit of revenue where you can with the potential of the Premier League too.”

Marathe and 49ers face Leeds fan wrath

It is very likely that Leeds fans will forget all about this if Premier League football is secured again.

Thankfully, form has picked up at Elland Road with huge wins over Middlesbrough and Preston, just as Sheffield United lost three in a row.
