Leeds United buzzing as Daniel Farke shares ‘huge’ Ethan Ampadu injury update

Paul Robinson has reacted to the “huge boost” that Ethan Ampadu could return from injury sooner than expected for Leeds United.

Daniel Farke revealed that the 24-year-old midfielder is ahead of his recovery schedule and could return sooner than expected after picking up a long-term knee injury in September [Yorkshire Evening Post].

Ampadu played 54 matches in all competitions for the Whites last term, emerging as one of the most important parts of Farke’s squad, but he has been without the midfielder since the 3-0 win over Coventry City.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “It’d be a huge boost. Ampadu and Gruev were the two midfield anchors before they both suffered long-term injuries at the same time.

“The manager will be extremely pleased with Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell coming in and doing well, but for Ampadu to be fit, he’s a huge part of the team and he’s the team captain.

“If you can get any player of his quality back quicker, it’s good but you shouldn’t rush them back because you’d rather have them fit for the rest of the season than have them break down after two or three games.

“It’s important to make sure he’s completely right. With how Tanaka and Rothwell are playing, there’s no immediate rush to get him back into the side.”

Leeds United handed important boost by Ethan Ampadu update

Rothwell and Tanaka have been incredible additions to the Leeds squad, and Farke will be immensely grateful that both were signed during the summer window.

Injuries to Ampadu and Gruev were greeted with a lot of concern, especially with the Whites vying for promotion to the Premier League, but Leeds’ form has been brilliant since.

Up until the 1-0 loss to Millwall on Wednesday 6 November, Farke’s side were unbeaten in eight matches, and Leeds will be expected to get back to winning ways against QPR before the international break.

In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke is surely sweating over a 91% ace after the latest international development.
