Leeds United budgets revealed as Manor Solomon transfer on hold – Exclusive
Leeds United are not in a position to make a decision about buying Manor Solomon from Tottenham this summer.
Solomon has established himself as a key player for Leeds since arriving on a season-long loan from Tottenham, bagging seven goals and as many assists in 28 Championship appearances so far.
With the 25-year-old now a key part of the Whites’ push for promotion, it would not be a surprise if Daniel Farke wanted to make his move from Spurs permanent.
However, the Elland Road outfit do not have an option to buy the attacker in their agreement with the Premier League club, meaning they would have to negotiate a fee.

Leeds United working on two separate budgets
It emerged in February that Leeds United are yet to make a decision regarding the permanent signing of Solomon as they are not certain which league they will be playing in next season.
Although the West Yorkshire outfit are in the driving seat to earn automatic promotion as they sit atop the Championship table, they have to “plan for the worst” as well, Dan Plumley has said.
Matches | Goals | Assists | Chances Created per 90 | Successful dribbles per 90 | Possession won final 3rd per 90 |
28 | 7 | 7 | 2.13 | 2.6 | 1.59 |
The football finance expert explained that Leeds will be working with two different budgets in mind to be prepared for the possibility of earning promotion, as well as staying in the Championship.
“Yes, absolutely, you have to and actually they’ll have had that in from the start of the season”, Plumley exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“Of course, we know what happened last season, just missing out. You know you’ve had the Premier League seasons that have gone before it, so you’ll be lining that budget up from the very start of the season for those two different scenarios.
“And this is as you’re looking now in terms of how that plays out across the January window and then beyond, that’s absolutely what they’ll be doing.

Solomon in dark about Tottenham future
“Of course, you’re hoping that the best-case scenario happens, but you have to plan for the worst as well.
“So yes, they’ll definitely have had two separate budgets for this one, which will be dictating what is kind of happening between now and the end of the season.”
This means Leeds United will not decide on signing Solomon until they are certain that they are earning promotion or not.
With 11 games still left to play, this means the attacker will be in the dark about his future for a few more weeks.
