Leeds United backed in Callum O’Hare pursuit amid Rangers transfer development

Paul Robinson has backed Leeds United to beat Rangers to the signing of departing Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare this summer.

According to TEAMtalk [13 June], Leeds have joined the race to sign the 26-year-old on a free transfer this summer, with Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic also named as potential suitors [TBR Football]

O’Hare has become a fan favourite since joining the Sky Blues from Aston Villa, while he has experienced a loan spell at Carlisle United, where then-boss Steven Pressley dubbed him “terrific” [Coventry Telegraph].

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “Leeds are going to be linked with a lot of free transfers because of the financial situation they’re in at the moment. He’s a good player. He’s had a couple of very, very good seasons at Coventry City.

“They came very close to getting into the Premier League two seasons ago, narrowly missing out. He’s played regularly at that level, he’s experienced and started his young career at Aston Villa.

“He knows the Championship and he’s a good quality player. It would be a good addition if Leeds can secure him on a free transfer. We can sit and speculate on Leeds’ incomings for as long as we want, but the biggest thing is in the outgoings.

“It’s easy to identify positions that need addressing in an ideal world but we’re not in an ideal world. Players are going to leave. So, players like O’Hare are going to be linked but until they know which gaps need plugging, it’s difficult to speculate.”

Could Leeds United sign Callum O’Hare on a free transfer this summer?

Due to O’Hare’s talent and quality on the ball, it is unsurprising to see the amount of interest surrounding the Coventry exit-bound player.

Elland Road
Elland Road, home of Leeds United

Elland Road is set for a summer of change after Leeds missed out on promotion to the Premier League, so free transfers will be one of the best routes for recruiting new blood ahead of next season.

With almost 200 total appearances for the Sky Blues over the last five seasons, O’Hare would be the perfect example of a player who would thrive under Daniel Farke in the Championship next season.

In other Leeds United news, Mateo Joseph has been told he has a future at Elland Road after his latest Spain development.
