We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United attacker Joe Gelhardt is expected to require a late fitness test ahead of the Blackburn Rovers clash, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert is basing this assessment off Daniel Farke’s comments that the Liverpool-born striker is injured with a hip issue.

The German did not reveal the seriousness of the setback and just stated that he would be out for the Middlesbrough clash.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Gelhardt:

“It is hard to say based on Farke’s comments as all he said regarding Gelhardt’s injury is that he’s not in contention and hip injuries can have a massive range depending on specifics.

He’ll still require a late fitness test or be cleared by the medical staff to play.

Gelhardt started the season as one of the contenders every week to be named in the starting eleven.

That was partly due to injuries and party with the chaos behind the scenes and players unsure whether or not they wanted to stay at Elland Road.

Since then, he’s had to contend for a spot on the bench and it remains to be seen whether or not he’s loaned out in January.

In other Leeds United news, the club are now mooted to fast-track a January move for a ‘Phenomenal’ player as his transfer stance emerges.
