Leeds United: Huge Crysencio Summerville January bid verdict issued as Newcastle, Liverpool, Aston Villa chase transfer

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United …

It would have to be an “astronomical” and “over-priced” bid for Leeds United to consider selling Crysencio Summerville in January says Paul Robinson.

The Elland Road star has generated significant interest in his services from within the Premier League thanks to his form this term, with Liverpool and Newcastle both thought to be after him, while Fabrizio Romano reported on Christmas Day that Aston Villa were also in the hunt.

But Robinson sees no benefit in letting any of the Whites best players leave during the winter window and wants the club to ignore anything but a massively-inflated bid this month.

The 22-year-old is arguably the most important player in Daniel Farke’s squad this term, with 12 league strikes and seven more assists so far.

Interest is no surprise in light of his form but the Whites would certainly be weaker to lose his production this season, which Robinson values higher than anything but silly money.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News he said: “Leeds will be looking to keep their best players. Look where they are, they’re fourth in the league for a reason.

“48 points from 26 games, they’re having a really good season with the squad that they’ve got. And with the squad depth that they’ve got you’re not going to sell your best players.

“For a player like Summerville I’d like to think it would take a really big bid, an astronomical bid, and over-priced bid if you like, to get any of Leeds’ best players out the door in January.

“He’s the top scorer, he’s got 12 goals this season. He didn’t play against Peterborough because the manager changed it up and showed the squad depth that he’s got.

“The squad depth and the quality that they’ve got is good enough to go up. Why would you sell your best players in January?

“Unless there’s an astronomical bid that comes in and the manager’s able to use that money elsewhere then there’s no reason to sell your top scorer and best player in January.”

In other Leeds United news, another permanent exit does now look inevitable according to Phil Hay.
