Leeds United: Archie Gray premium on cards after Elland Road transfer news

Dan Plumley has insisted that premium tax can be added to any Archie Gray asking price at Leeds United if he was to leave.

Premier League clubs are said to be lining up for the English wonderkid, with Liverpool and Manchester United mooted as possible destinations.

The football finance expert admitted that “generational” talents are more expensive, with young English players also coming at a premium for Premier League clubs.

“I think it is a thing,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“We have seen that in the market in recent years, haven’t we?

The two things mentioned are the standouts, one is the generational young English talent at a very well-established club in England, one that has been in the Premier League recently, so there are all those factors that will go into the mix in terms of the valuation.

There is also the need for this homegrown quota as well that clubs are looking at and if you look at the market history in recent years and that narrative that we know most of the money in European football is in the Premier League, we know it’s the market leader and all eyes are on the Premier League.

There is that notion that young English talent, you can probably throw a bit of a premium on there when you’re looking at bumping up the transfer valuation.”

Archie Gray to leave Leeds United?

Interest does not mean that an exit is imminent, and given he is living his dream of playing for his boyhood club, Gray is going nowhere.

Promotion to the Premier League this season will only back up that point, with a long-term contract already signed at Elland Road.

There is no reason to fear with this one, but at least Leeds are covered.
