Tottenham striker should have joined Leeds as last-gasp deal confirmed elsewhere
Leeds United were urged to swoop in at Tottenham before a last-gasp winter deal was completed.
Leeds have already signed Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton in January and could add to the Argentine with just three days remaining in the window.
The Whites have been central to many links, with Jaidon Antony emerging as a Leeds target at this late stage of the market season.
Perspective could soon change at Elland Road if Joel Piroe leaves Leeds and joins Rangers in a deal that could leave Daniel Farke’s side light up top.
The LS11 outfit had been urged to sign Dane Scarlett as an alternative, but have now missed out on the opportunity.
Leeds United could have signed Dane Scarlett
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been great for Leeds and has been backed up well by Lukas Nmecha, but further reinforcements wouldn’t go amiss.
If Piroe does leave, the desire for a new forward option will only be increase, so a move for the Tottenham outcast could make total sense.
Scarlett has been a bit-part player under Thomas Frank this campaign, having played just five times across all competitions.

Former Spurs scout Bryan King has suggested the 21-year-old could have joined Leeds before he ultimately confirmed a move elsewhere.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, King said: “I like Scarlett, I think he’s a good old-fashioned centre-forward.
“I’ve seen him play, and I think he’s an interesting front player, so why not give him a try? They’ve got to get up the league table.
“But footballers want to play games, they don’t want to sit on the bench, and they definitely don’t want to watch from the stands.

“I would say he’s in a position to say, ‘If I’m not part of your plans, I want to leave.’
“I would have thought a top-end Championship side would be interested, and sides above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
“Your Leeds Uniteds and Evertons, Middlesbroughs and others are all clubs that would be of interest.“
Scarlett completes Hibernian loan switch from Tottenham
Scarlett was put forward as an option for Leeds just hours before he ultimately completed a winter switch to Hibernian.
The Scottish Premiership side confirmed the deal on Friday, as the Englishman completed yet another loan departure away from Tottenham.
There is a chance that a delay in proceedings with Hibs could have opened the door for a Leeds move, which may have been better for the striker.
His game time would have been less at Elland Road, but the chance of playing more regular Premier League football could have improved his development.
The Whites can keep an eye on his progress in Scotland and potentially eye a summer move if he is successful away from Spurs.
