'Klopp was waxing lyrical' - Exclusive: Pundit shares potential Leeds boost to sign 'Top player'
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson believes that Leeds United will have handed themselves a boost in the bid to sign Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese simply for the way they played against Liverpool.
Although Leeds lost 4-3 at Anfield in their Premier League opener at the weekend, Marcelo Bielsa’s side dominated long spells of the game and ended the match with more possession.
De Paul, 26, has emerged as a major target for Leeds in the final stages of the current transfer window with TyC Sports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reporting that the Whites have bid £23.1million for the Udinese and Argentina midfielder.
According to Robinson, signing De Paul would be a good piece of business by Leeds and their display on Merseyside will have helped the player decide on whether he wants to move to Elland Road.
“He’s a top player and he would be a great signing should it happen,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

“Who’s not going to want to sign for Leeds after the performance on Saturday? For any potential signings who watched that, Leeds are going to be a draw.
“Jurgen Klopp was waxing lyrical before and after the game saying he can’t wait to play against Leeds, he can’t believe what they did, they dominated at Anfield.
“For any potential signings like De Paul watching that, Leeds are an attractive proposition. People are going to want to come and play for Leeds.
“People who hadn’t heard of the way Leeds played in the Championship, you got to watch it first-hand on Saturday.”
Since the win against Liverpool, De Paul has taken to Twitter to confirm he’d be keen on joining Leeds before deleting the tweet and his entire Twitter account.
The midfielder is clearly eager to work with Bielsa at Elland Road but Udinese are the ones standing in the way at their moment with their huge valuation of him.
According to Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A club wants £36.9million for De Paul, which is huge considering Leeds have already smashed their transfer record on signing Rodrigo from Valencia for £27million.
In other Leeds United news, Bielsa and Orta are at odds over two transfer targets.
