Junior Firpo slammed by pundit after ‘average’ Leeds United display v Brighton
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson was not impressed with Junior Firpo’s performance for Leeds United when they drew 0-0 with Brighton on Saturday.
Firpo, 25, made his first Premier League start since early October at the AMEX but was substituted off at half-time by Marcelo Bielsa as he struggled to cope with the home side’s attackers.
On Tuesday, Bielsa dropped the ex-Barcelona left-back from his starting line-up ahead of the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Elland Road.

After the draw at Brighton, ex-Leeds goalkeeper criticised Firpo’s performance at left-back but added that he wasn’t really impressed by any of his teammates either.
Speaking to MOT Leeds News this week, Robinson said: “Junior didn’t play particularly well but other players didn’t play well, they gave Brighton too many chances.
“Obviously, they should have won the game and that’s where the frustration of their fans came from. It wasn’t to do with the way that they played but the fans were just frustrated with the fact they weren’t able to take their chances to win the game.
“I think Leeds were second best and Junior didn’t play well but he wasn’t on his own in an average performance.
“I think the first half was very non-descript from Leeds, they didn’t offer much.”

Firpo has attracted critics since making his £13million move from Barcelona in the summer [Goal].
Injury issues haven’t helped the Dominican Republic-born left-back and neither has the fact he’s had to step into the boots of the popular Ezgjan Alioski.
However, it’s still early days for Firpo and someone who was recently sought out by Barcelona is bound to have something about him that’ll mean he’s good enough for the Whites.
