Joe Rothwell injury update emerges ahead of Oxford United v Leeds United
Leeds United midfielder Joe Rothwell may be ruled out with a Grade 2 calf injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the worst-case scenario in such a case would be a more significant calf setback.
The 30-year-old last played for the Whites in the 2-2 draw against Swansea on 29 March.

Daniel Farke may not be able to call upon Rothwell for Oxford United clash
Daniel Farke and Leeds will want most of their players ready for their remaining fixtures as they’re eyeing an automatic promotion spot.
Their next fixture is against Oxford United at Kassam Stadium on Saturday, 19 April.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Rothwell: “The best case would be a Grade 2 calf injury that heals according to the timeline and Rothwell has no setbacks.
“The worst case would be a more significant calf injury.
“I think he’s still a huge doubt to be available for the game on 19 April unless he trains exceptionally well next week.“

Rothwell has been a useful option for Leeds United
Rothwell has been a pivotal figure for Leeds, proving his worth as a dynamic midfielder on loan from Bournemouth but given Dr Brar’s assessment, he’s not expected to be available for the next one.
Initially a peripheral figure, he seized his chance amid injuries to key players like Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev, forming a potent partnership with Ao Tanaka.
His progressive passing, with over 90% accuracy in games and his ability to drive forward have unlocked defences, creating numerous chances and delivering key assists, notably for Pascal Struijk’s winner against Sunderland.
Rothwell’s versatility – blending attacking flair with defensive grit – has been crucial in maintaining Leeds’ control in midfield.
Despite not scoring, his four assists and consistent performances have silenced early doubters, making him integral to Leeds’ promotion push, with fans and analysts alike hailing his understated brilliance.
