Jesse Marsch slammed by Sky Sports pundit as Leeds United exit now very close for Mateusz Klich
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson wishes Mateusz Klich will with the Leeds United midfielder reportedly closing in on a move to DC United in the MLS and is disappointed by Jesse Marsch’s refusal to play him that much.
MLS journalist Tom Bogert reported on 9 December that DC are in advanced talks to sign the 32-year-old midfielder, who’s failed to start a Premier League game for Marsch this season [MLS Soccer].
While the deal isn’t 100 per cent complete yet, it does seem as though Klich is on his way out of Elland Road, ending a five-and-a-half-year stay in West Yorkshire in which he’s helped the Whites win promotion to the Premier League and stabilise themselves in it.
Klich was a favourite of Marcelo Bielsa and he’s also proven popular among Leeds fans for his work rate, unlimited source of energy, ability to score spectacular goals and sense of humour.
But with Marsch barely playing Klich this season, Robinson feels it’s the right time for him to move on and the former goalkeeper believes a move to the United States could suit the Poland ace well.
“I wish him well. He’s been a fan favourite for a long time,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“I’m disappointed the manager hasn’t integrated him more into the side but at this stage of his career and at this stage of his life, it’s probably a lifestyle decision [to go to the MLS].
“He’s not playing football regularly, he’s not getting the minutes he wants to and he’ll obviously be disappointed at missing out on the Poland squad for the World Cup.
“It’s an opportunity for him to play again and I wish him well for all that he’s done at the club.”
Klich has played 13 times in all competitions this season for Leeds but has only managed 188 minutes in the Premier League across 11 substitute appearances.
In other Leeds United news, talks are underway over this player quitting Elland Road for a high-paid contract.
