‘It worries me’ – Exclusive: Pundit reacts as Leeds reportedly table yet another huge bid

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said he’s “worried” about the price that Leeds United might end up having to spend to land Ben White.

Sky Sports had reported that two huge bids of £18.5m and £22m had been rejected by Brighton.

But both of these were dwarfed by news of a massive third £30m bid for White being turned down on Wednesday.

Robinson claimed that Leeds don’t have the resources to fight Premier League giants for players yet and that transfer fees had to be realistic.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “I think it’s got to be realistic if Leeds are going to land Ben White.

“When Man City and Chelsea come knocking the price is always going to go up.

“Leeds don’t have the financial backing that Man City or Chelsea do at the moment.

“We’ve talked about the 49ers and QSI a lot but as yet they haven’t got access to those kinds of funds.

“If Leeds are going to sign a player, even one as good as White, it has to be for a realistic price. If Man City were to sign him then it would probably be for an inflated price. But they can afford it.

“The same goes for Liverpool or Chelsea. It worries me about how much Leeds are going to have to pay for White if Nathan Ake is valued at £41m.”

Leeds fans have set up a #FreeBenWhite campaign that shows the depth of the feeling among supporters. That’s gone viral, much to the annoyance of Brighton fans.

However, every player has a price and with Leeds needing a new striker as well, we can’t see them going much above £30m for a single player.
