Injury Expert issues Junior Firpo update ahead of Leeds United v Norwich City
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...
Leeds United defender Junior Firpo may not be available for the clash against Norwich City on 21 October amid a lack of match sharpness, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert believes that he may play a few games off the bench as he works back his sharpness for the first team.
This comes after the Athletic’s Phil Hay relayed an update from Daniel Farke claiming he’ll be back in training at the other side of the international break.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Firpo:
“If he responds well to team training for multiple days, I imagine he should be back for bounce matches soon after that.
“After such a long absence, it’s unlikely he’s available for first-team starts right away.
“The medical staff will ensure that there are no setbacks after such a long absence.”
Firpo has endured a torrid time with injuries since his move to Elland Road a few summers ago.
Even when fit, his form has been far from impressive and Daniel Farke will be hoping that he gets consistent once he returns.
It remains to be seen if he’s included in the matchday squad this weekend as there is a slight possibility of it happening.
In other Leeds United, the Whites may turn to signing a new left-back in January who’s a long-term target and the ideal Junior Firpo replacement.
