'I don't see any way' – Exclusive: Sky Sports pundit makes bold Leeds prediction

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson has nailed his colours firmly to the promotion mast after Leeds thrashed Hull 4-0 last Saturday.

Following the game he said, “I don’t see any way in which Leeds don’t go up now, I really don’t.”

The win took Leeds to within a point of West Brom at the top although Robinson has said he doesn’t care if Leeds win the title or not, as long as they go up.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “I worked for Sky Sports midweek and saw a really poor Hull team against Barnsley.

“They were much better against Leeds. But Leeds were stronger, dominated possession and scored the goals. It’s a result that sends a message to the whole of the Championship.”

Robinson highlighted the impact of Tyler Roberts who came off the bench to score two goals.

And he namechecked Pablo Hernandez and Mateusz Klich as the two players who had the experience to push Leeds over the line.

Asked what Hernandez was bringing to Leeds Robinson said, “Experience. Him and Klich, they’re experienced and when they’re playing well Leeds click.

“They’ve had their blip, the performance against Brentford was the catalyst. Leeds won three in a row 1-0 after that which is unusual for them and then were rewarded with a 4-0.

“I don’t see any way in which Leeds don’t go up now, I really don’t.

“Whoever wins the title it’s irrelevant. It’s a great achievement but after being in the Championship for so long, I’d take second by one point and ending 15 points ahead of third place.”

Some Leeds fans won’t want to hear this. With 10 games left they’re not looking any further ahead than the next game against Huddersfield.

The drop-off at the tail-end of last season is still too fresh in their minds to start counting their chickens again.

However, that experience should stand Leeds in good stead and the chasing pack are not as strong a threat as Sheffield United were last season.
