‘Huge implications’ on cards at Leeds United as legal papers go public – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United.
Dan Plumley has insisted that “huge” implications are on the cards for Leeds United in their likely compensation push against Everton.
It was reported by Bill Leckie on 19 November that legal papers have now been leaked that confirm that Leeds and other clubs all have a case for compensation after the Toffees were docked 10 points.
The finance expert admitted that all signs push towards Leeds going for compensation, as it was deemed that Everton survived relegation by giving themselves an unfair financial advantage.

“It seems likely,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“There are a lot of unanswered questions in that mix, but the noises point towards certainly a compensation appeal from a host of clubs, of course, it’s not just Leeds in that mix.
“I think, as well, it has to be a collective and everyone has to see that through and off the back of the verdict from Everton, we are likely to see an appeals process from other clubs as well.
“It will be interesting to see how that plays out because if that goes in that club’s favour then that has huge implications, not just for Leeds United in this case, not just for Everton or the others, but the wider football finance ecosystem.

“All the signs push towards a compensation play likely, and I’m sure it’s something that Leeds will be pursuing in the background.”
