We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson has said that Julian Draxler would be an unbelievable signing for Leeds United if they could pull it off.
PSG attacker Draxler has been linked to Leeds and Sky Sports transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said that Leeds are looking for players like the Germany international.
He said that if PSG would consider loaning him out this January he could be a possibility for a shock move.
Draxler is out of contract in the summer and would be available on a free transfer.
The Germany international is on a reported £119k a week at Paris Saint-Germain.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “He’d be an unbelievable signing, wouldn’t he? You talk about marquee signings – he’d be unbelievable.
“He’s got a fantastic CV and he’s had a fantastic career.
“If he’s still hungry enough to want to do it in the Premier League he would be very exciting.
“He’s got over 50 caps for Germany, he was a great player in his time and he’s still only 27 years old.
“He’s not at an age where you’d consider him to be too old. I think he’d be a great signing if Leeds could manage to pull it off.”
Draxler hasn’t started a Ligue 1 game for PSG since October and could be ready for a new challenge in the summer.
We can’t see Leeds moving for him in January, even on a loan, but next summer, without a fee… who knows?
