Hannibal Mejbri punishment update shared amid controversy vs Leeds – ‘No Other Way’
Leeds’ 2-0 loss to Burnley on Saturday has been overshadowed by controversy surrounding Hannibal Mejbri.
Leeds fell to a dismal result at Turf Moor on 18 October, with Lesley Ugochukwu and Loum Tchaouna nabbing the all-important goals.
Despite the result, it was Hannibal who made the headlines against the Elland Road outfit once again for allegedly spitting at Whites supporters.
The Football Association are investigating the incident in the Leeds clash, with the ex-Manchester United flop’s actions highlighted by Adam Pope.
Hannibal Mejbri set to face ban and fine after Leeds incident
It is not the first time that Hannibal has been involved in controversy with Leeds, as he was the target of missiles in Burnley’s 1-0 win over the Peacocks in October 2024.
The latest instalment of the rivalry though, could prove quite costly for the 22-year-old, as he is set to face both a ban and a fine.
Finance expert Dan Plumley believes that the FA will implement both measures on the Clarets star, given that the incident was well-documented.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he said: “Definitely, he’ll probably get both, that is how they would look to do it.
“Crazy moments of madness like that, you just can’t be doing that.
“Ultimately, that is going to end up with a likely ban and a fairly hefty fine, I would say as well, especially if it has been captured and documented, and they have got evidence of it, there is no other way that goes.”
Leeds fans vs Hannibal Mejbri will only continue
Whites supporters and Hannibal, the pair just do not like each other, and it will stay that way after the latest incident.
Burnley and the LS11 outfit are likely to be locked in a battle for survival at the end of the season, so the hostilities between them will be renewed on 2 May.
Hannibal will not be expecting a warm reception when he steps out onto the pitch in Yorkshire that day, and it will be even worse if the relegation race goes down to the wire, and that game is relevant to decide who goes down to the Championship.
