Gustavo Hamer ‘to clear medical’ amid Leeds transfer update

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer this summer.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed his fitness record ahead of a potential medical in the coming weeks.

The 28-year-old will be playing in the second tier next season unless he leaves the Blades, as they failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Hamer expected to face no issues clearing his medical

The Brazilian’s fitness record suggests he should have no issues in clearing his medical, according to Dr Brar.

Leeds are ready to sign Hamer as he wants to leave, given his side’s failure to clinch promotion. [talkSPORT, 27 May]

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Hamer: “He had an injury-free campaign and that bodes well for any club looking to sign him.

“I do not expect there to be any issues with his medical, either.

“In recent seasons, too, there is nothing untoward about his fitness record and he’s at a good age as well.”

Leeds United must avoid signing Hamer

Hamer would have been a strong addition to Leeds United in the Championship, where his technical ability, work rate and creativity shone at Coventry City.

His vision and set-piece expertise would have suited the demands of the second tier.

However, in the Premier League, Hamer’s limitations make him a risky target.

His defensive discipline is inconsistent, often leaving gaps in midfield and his passing can lack the precision needed against top-tier opposition.

The Elland Road outfit, aiming to solidify their Premier League status post-promotion, need players with proven elite-level quality.

Pursuing Hamer would be a gamble, diverting resources from signings better equipped to handle the division’s relentless intensity.
