Farke sack news blasted as ‘absolute lunacy’ as 49ers face huge Leeds summer

Daniel Farke remains in the dark over whether he will get the chance to manage Leeds United in the Premier League.

Leeds were rampant on Monday night (28 April) at Elland Road when they swept aside Bristol City, going on to celebrate with the supporters after the final whistle.

Farke – soaked to the bone in champagne – visibly enjoyed the aftermath of the contest, before which Leeds now head down to Plymouth Argyle on the final day (3 May) to attempt to become Championship champions with a 100-point total.

Farke sack ‘absolute lunacy’ from 49ers – expert

Since Leeds United confirmed promotion on Easter Monday after their 6-0 drubbing of Stoke City was combined with Burnley beating Sheffield United, Farke’s job has been thrown into doubt.

Paraag Marathe and 49ers Enterprises are reportedly considering ‘upgrading’ Farke due to doubts over his capability managing at the top level.

The past two seasons have witnessed the three promoted clubs all relegated at the first time of asking, and with Leeds desperate to stop the rot, they could look to harshly replace the German, who has a record of just six wins from 49 across two Premier League stints with Norwich City.

TV commentator Ian Darke, speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, tore into the Elland Road ownership at the prospect of Farke being given the boot – highlighting the low budget with which he worked at Norwich, and that the past few years have made him a better manager.

Darke explained: “Who can crack the code of the Premier League for promoted clubs? Maybe it will be Daniel Farke, if he’s still there. They’re one of the best teams ever to play in the Championship.

They got their act together in the run-in, and the performance against Bristol City on Monday was champagne football. With their impressive new stadium plans, it’s looking as if they plan to be in the Premier League club for good.

“Norwich gave Farke a very slender budget, people aren’t mentioning that. It would be absolute lunacy for the 49ers to be getting rid of Farke.

Leeds United consideration on Farke dividing opinion

Leeds’ potential call on Farke has split opinion, as some former Elland Road players and supporters believe the decision would be incredibly harsh, while others understand the difficulty.

Either way, Marathe and the 49ers have a huge decision to make – all while they are looking to tie up the deal to become a huge part of the American consortium taking over at Rangers.

The two clubs may look to begin a sister-club network in the future, but one thing is for sure – Marathe knows he is upsetting one camp whichever decision he makes on Farke.
