Fabian Hurzeler right to be furious as ex-FIFA official reacts to incident in Leeds loss vs Brighton
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler was still furious despite his side’s comfortable victory over Leeds United.
Leeds were second best against Brighton, and they were made to pay from a Danny Welbeck strike and two Diego Gomez goals.
Daniel Farke had no new injury issues for his Leeds side, but that did not matter, as they were easily beaten on the south coast.
There was an incident which left Farke’s fellow German seething on the sidelines at the AMEX Stadium on 1 November.

Ethan Ampadu should have been sent off for Leeds in Brighton defeat
Ethan Ampadu fouled Diego Gomez in the 73rd minute of the contest, with a reckless lunge after the Paraguayan had gone past him.
Graham Smyth spotted Hurzeler’s furious reaction to the tackle, as the Whites man was handed a booking.
Keith Hackett believes that the Wales star should have seen red for the challenge, as it was a clear example of serious foul play.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he said: “This is a cruel challenge that clearly endangers the safety of the opponent.
“The referee despite being in close proximity to play, did not see the lead-up and actual challenge.
“VAR should have sent the referee to the screen to take another look at the challenge.
“I agree with the manager on this one. Lucky to escape a red card.”

Daniel Farke needs his Leeds players to keep their heads
Ampadu’s head loss was an example of what not to do for the Whites players.
There were other examples of the Peacocks losing their heads in the contest, the most prominent being Gabriel Gudmundsson’s indecision for Welbeck’s opener.
- Leeds have suffered five defeats in 10 league matches so far
- They are 16th in the Premier League table
- They have 11 points, five points above the relegation zone
Farke needs his charges to stay calm and keep their heads, as red cards and rash errors are the exact opposite of what they need to do to survive.
If they cannot, and they resort to regular errors and dismissals, it will only hurt their chances of sticking in the division.
They need to keep their composure, and keep grinding out results, and hope that it is enough at the end of the season.
