FA to launch investigation after what happened in Leeds United v Millwall

The FA are set to investigate after Leeds United crashed to a 2-0 defeat against Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday, Keith Hackett has said.

Millwall were gritty winners at Elland Road after Daniel Farke made 10 changes to his side, with Josuha Guilavogui struggling in midfield.

Femi Azeez scored both goals as the London side progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup, but it was matters off the pitch which have overshadowed the game.

FA investigation coming at Leeds United

Leeds United confirmed after the game that tragedy chants were heard from Millwall fans in the game, with the Championship clubs to work with the Police to find those responsible.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Hackett, the ex-PGMOL chief and FIFA referee admitted that the FA will also be investigating the chants.

“The claims of unacceptable chants will be investigated by The FA and they are likely to ask the police for their observations,” he said.

It has been confirmed that the chants were about Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight, which disgracefully is not the first time that Millwall have chanted about.

The FA needs to take action against the Championship club, as clearly nowhere near enough is being done to stop fans from doing things like this.

Millwall have also released their statement saying they are “appalled” and that it will not be tolerated, with that message needing to sink in much quicker.

This fixture will be played again in the Championship between now and the end of the season at Elland Road, and the same cannot be allowed to happen.

The FA, clubs and Police have to take action with the same section of fans continually called out without tough enough punishment to stop it from happening again.

Leeds United now go into their toughest Championship run of the season with games against Watford, Sunderland, Sheffield United and West Brom coming up.

Farke will be backed by thousands of Leeds fans, and that will be in the right manner unlike some of the disgusting scenes that were spotted today.
