Exclusive: Paul Robinson picks his Leeds MotM from 4-0 win v Middlesbrough
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has hailed Mateusz Klich as his man of the match following Leeds’ 4-0 win against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
The win finally saw Leeds getting the goals their performances have deserved – this was the first time they had scored four all season.
Klich got two goals giving him a total of three for the season after he scored 10 in Marcelo Bielsa’s first season in charge.
His second was a cracker, a curled shot into the top corner from outside the box after a well-worked set-piece.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “Klich has to be man of the match for his two goals.
“But it was a very good all-round display from Leeds. They changed the system, played three at the back.
“Bielsa went with a 3-3-3-1, with Harrison, Costa and Hernandez in behind Bamford.
“It was a very good and convincing display by Leeds, and there’s a little gap opening up down to third now, so fingers crossed this is Leeds’ year.”
The win took Leeds to the top of the Championship but only for 24 hours.
West Brom beat Preston with a controversial late penalty in their game at Deepdale on Monday night.
It means that Slaven Bilic’s side are two points clear at the top but there’s a five-point buffer for Leeds back to Fulham in third.
Leeds play Huddersfield next on Saturday but will be without Kalvin Phillips who got his fifth yellow card of the season against Boro.
