Exclusive: Pundit urges Leeds to keep senior man after reported interest from Serie A giants

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that it’s important for Leeds to keep their structure as it is after a report linked sporting director Victor Orta with a move to Roma.

CalcioMercato claimed that Orta was a target for the Serie A side after Dan Friedkin completed a £534million takeover.

Orta joined Leeds in 2017 after arriving from Middlesbrough. He had a shaky first year but is credited with bringing Marcelo Bielsa to the club.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “Victor Orta has done a decent job. Some of his recruitment has been good but some of it, especially in the first year, has been questionable.

“But Leeds have got a very good board of directors there now and it’s got them into the Premier League.

“Stability is now a word that can be used at Leeds United and you haven’t been able to say that for a very long time.

“I think it’s really important to keep the structure of the club intact, whether there’s a takeover or a board reshuffle.

“Orta is a key part of that and I think it’s important that Leeds keep it as it is.”

Orta has become a cult hero at Leeds after his antics in this season’s Championship.

He was spotted with a pair of binoculars in the stands after the win against Derby County in response to their spygate celebrations from last season’s doomed play-offs.

His stock has also risen massively at Leeds after he helped bring in Marcelo Bielsa.

We can’t see him leaving with Leeds now about to begin their assault on the Premier League.
