We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson has said that he can’t see Sergio Aguero playing for any other side in the Premier League, let alone Leeds United.
Whites fans were handed a shock when a report in Eurosport claimed that Leeds were interested in signing the prolific striker – and that a move to Elland Road might appeal to him.
Aguero is leaving Man City at the end of the season after 10 years and 257 goals for the club.
Chelsea have also been linked and their manager Thomas Tuchel has already started a charm offensive, saying he’s a “world-class” striker.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “I can’t imagine Sergio Aguero playing anywhere else in the Premier League.
“I mean, he’s a legend and he’s built such a legacy at Man City. To see him anywhere else and wearing a different shirt, it wouldn’t look right.
“I can see him going back to Atletico or to Argentina where he started his career.
“The links he’s got with Man City, I think he’d find it impossible to play against them.
“As nice as it is for Leeds to be linked with players of that level I really can’t see it happening.”
It’s nice to dream.
A few years back we were signing strikers like Jay-Roy Grot.
The sensational Aguero move might not happen – and an ageing, injury-prone striker doesn’t really fit the Bielsa profile – but it’s great to be linked with players of this calibre.
However, we think we’re still a couple of years off signing players of this level.
