Exclusive: Paul Robinson noticed sometihng worrying in Leeds 3-3 draw v Cardiff

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that there were shades of the Wigan game from the end of last season in the 3-3 draw against Cardiff last Saturday.

Needing a win to keep their push going for automatic promotion last season, Leeds lost 2-1 to a Wigan side that was reduced to 10 men in the 14th minute.

Patrick Bamford scored shortly after but Leeds conceded two and blew their chances of a top-two finish.

Last week, Leeds went three up against Cardiff and ended up drawing 3-3 in a calamitous second half.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “It was really disappointing the way it went, and there were shades of the Wigan game last season.

“3-0 up you’d expect us to close out the game but they showed a lack of game management.

“I haven’t seen that much this year, I saw it a couple of times at the end of last season and it cost Leeds.

“But, we’re still 10 points clear of third place. I, like lots of Leeds fans, couldn’t care who wins the league as long as we end up in the top two. I look at the gap back to third.”

Leeds have a chance to wipe the memories of the Cardiff game away tomorrow when they take on Fulham.

Seen as one of Leeds’ biggest rivals for automatic promotion, Fulham have lost three in a row and dropped to sixth in the table.

A win for Leeds tomorrow would see them move 15 points clear of Fulham at the halfway point of the season.
